These are among my favorite pages in the entire Reboot. It’s not  a secret that the face waiting on shore is my favorite character in The Dreamer and I was as glad to see him as Bea.

I haven’t exhibited at a convention since I moved to California. On one hand I’ve enjoyed the chance to catch my breath and recharge from convention burnout. On the other hand, it feels weird to be a comic creator who isn’t at comic cons. I definitely get con envy seeing pics of friends hanging out at my favorite shows without me.

I started today with a chest full of warm anticipation. I was at Sprouts, buying snacks for my upcoming road trip and it all felt so familiar. I haven’t done this in awhile and I missed it.

ClexaCon will be my first convention appearance since 2015. I haven’t had to pull out the convention gear since I moved to California and I underestimated how long that would take. Today was a blur of unpacking, counting, organizing, repacking, printing signage and generally walking around the house with a tight chest.

I ordered a massive box of Wynonna Earp prints for this show that were lost in the mail. (Well, the package arrived… but only the box: no prints were inside.) The printer rushed my reorder and I’m holding my breath that they are delivered tomorrow as promised. Today in the midst of the packing frenzy, I realized that the six boxes of graphic novels in my closet are mostly copies of Volume 2 and 3. I only have a handful of Volume 1. I live in the same city as my publisher and, fingers crossed, I hope to pick up a few more today. Wish me luck!

Conventions are more work the less you do them. In Columbus I had this down and could gather it all in about an hour the night before. Ha! Gone are those days until I shake the rust off. It’ll be worth it.
