ClexaCon begins today! I made it to Las Vegas yesterday and, thankfully, so did my missing prints. I laughed when the package was delivered because the printer had wrapped the box in a pound of packing plastic. Inside, the bubble wrap was even taped in place. He made sure these prints would make it. And they’re gorgeous!

All of my Earp prints, but I’ll have Dreamer prints, too!

When I lived back east, road tripping was one of my favorite things. I loved the convention circuit and all the cities I got a chance to explore. I love impromptu adventures (“omg, pull over, that’s Antietam Battlefield”) and being somewhere new. When I moved to San Diego my sister and I took five days to drive from Pennsylvania to California, and that was my last road trip until today.

The drive from San Diego to Vegas was five hours through the mountains and desert. Driving in California isn’t nearly as much fun as driving back east. Too many people and too much traffic. So a road trip, just me, the Hamilton Mix Tape, and a bag full of Trader Joe’s honey wheat pretzel twists felt like home.

My, “I made it to Vegas!” face.

Orange County looked like Ireland–lush green hillsides teeming with life thanks to the crazy rains we’ve had this year. And the rain had turned to snow which you could see on the caps of mountains. Driving through Eastern California was unexpectedly difficult. I thought my car had a flat tire because it would not accelerate and kept drifting into the next lane. For ten miles I looked for a pull off before I saw the “Caution: Gusty Winds” sign. Not a flat tire. Just a tiny Yaris being blown around like a sailboat. I couldn’t drive more than 60 mph straight into the wind. That’s one way to avoid a speeding ticket.

Obligatory Bellagio fountain shot.

I turned in early to come back to my room and sign and number the WayHaught prints. Important convention business! (or busyness…?)

“What comes after 30….zzzzzzzz*”

I’ll be at Artists Alley at table 102 promoting Wynonna Earp. Look for the giant “WayHaught” banner. Hope to see you there!
